Criptomoneda, ¿qué es y cómo funciona?
Una criptomoneda o criptodivisa es un medio digital de intercambio (no existe físicamente) que usa un cifrado criptográfico para asegurar la integridad en las transacciones y mantiene un control en la creación de nuevas unidades.
Bitcoin nació en 2009 y desde entonces se han creado muchas criptodivisas. Litecoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Ripple, Dogecoin son algunas de las más populares.
Las criptomonedas tienen diversas características que las hacen únicas, como el no estar reguladas ni controladas por ninguna institución, no requieren de intermediarios en las transacciones y se usan bloques contables para evitar que se creen nuevas criptomonedas de forma ilegal.
Sin embargo, al no tener reguladores como un banco central o entidades similares se les señala de no ser confiables, de ser volátiles, propiciar los fraudes, no tener un marco legal que respalde a sus usuarios, permitir la operación de actividades ilegales, entre otras más.
Para adquirirlas se puede hacer la compra o intercambio de la propia moneda en portales especializados. Su valor varía en función de la oferta, de la demanda y del compromiso de los usuarios, por lo que puede cambiar más rápido que el dinero tradicional, pero mientras más gente esté interesada y quiera comprar una moneda determinada, mayor será su precio.
No obstante, quien invierte en este tipo de activos digitales debe tener muy claro que esta forma trae consigo un elevado riesgo al capital, pues, así como puede haber un incremento, también puede tener inesperadamente un desplome y acabar con los ahorros de sus usuarios.
El boom del bitcoin
Nacido tras la crisis financiera de 2008, el bitcoin promovía un ideal libertario y ambicionaba poner en jaque a las instituciones monetarias y financieras tradicionales. Fue lanzada por alguien llamado Satoshi Nakamoto, pero hoy día su identidad permanece oculta.
Según un libro publicado por Satoshi Nakamoto, el objetivo de la criptomoneda era ?efectuar pagos en línea directamente de un tercero a otro sin pasar por una institución financiera?.
Es así como el 3 de enero de 2009 crea el primer bloque de 50 bitcoins. Actualmente, existen 21 millones de bitcoins en circulación y la masa monetaria no deja de aumentar con la continua emisión de nuevas unidades.
En 2013, esta criptomoneda, que no valía casi nada en sus inicios, superó los 1.000 dólares y empezó a captar la atención de las instituciones financieras. Meses más tarde, enfrentó su mayor crisis con el pirateo de la plataforma MtGox dirigida por Mark Karpelès, donde se intercambiaban hasta el 80% de las unidades en circulación.
Los precios cayeron y la criptomoneda tardó tres años en recuperarse. A finales de 2017, un nuevo repunte situó su valor en los 19.511 dólares. Hoy su precio ha superado hasta los 62 mil o caído hasta 35 mil, influenciado también por comentarios de inversionistas como Elon Musk.
Pese al avance y alcance que ha tenido el Bitcoin y otros activos digitales, organismos como el Banco Mundial, el Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) y el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) aún se muestran escépticos sobre los posibles beneficios de este tipo de criptomonedas.
Otros, como el gobierno de El Salvador, le ha dado su voto de confianza y el pasado 9 de junio de 2021 se convirtió en el primer país en legalizar el bitcoin como moneda legal. Además, el presidente Nayib Bukele anunció su intención de crear la primera Bitcoin City en Conchagua y estaría financiada a través de bonos tokenizados con respaldo en bitcoin.
Criptomonedas en México: el Banco de México (Banxico) ha determinado que ninguna de las instituciones que participan en el sistema financiero nacional podrá hacer uso o deberá permitir operaciones de ninguna clase a través de este medio de pago. Sin embargo, el país se encuentra en el puesto 14 de 27 naciones que poseen monedas digitales, superando a Venezuela y Colombia, con alrededor de 13 millones de usuarios en 2021, según un estudio de Finder.
Criptomonedas en Perú: el Banco Central de Reserva del Perú (BCR) ha dejado en claro que su misión no es ser el primero ni el segundo banco central que regule el uso de las criptomonedas, ello debido a la inestabilidad que las caracteriza. Sin embargo, hace días el presidente del (BCR) aseguró que el BCR trabajaba en un proyecto de moneda digital propia.
Criptomonedas en Colombia: en la nación sudamericana hay más de 500 sitios donde es permitido pagar con criptodivisas. En diciembre de 2021 se convirtió en el tercer país del mundo con mayor crecimiento de propietarios de bitcoins, sólo superado por Rusia y Noruega, según Finder.

Conforme avanza la invasión de Rusia a Ucrania también han crecido las tensiones en los mercados financieros, en donde ni las criptomonedas han logrado escapar de los impactos que las han llevado a tener comportamientos mixtos en los últimos días.
Tras la ola de sanciones económicas contra el régimen de Vladimir Putin, son varias las apuestas de que Rusia utilizará estas monedas digitales para hacer frente a los castigos.
A raíz del conflicto ruso-ucraniano se ha disparado la compra de criptomonedas en rublos alcanzando máximos históricos. Tan sólo el bitcoin ha registrado alzas de 15% con un valor de hasta 44 mil dólares, esto en un contexto en el que se evalúa la conveniencia de una divisa no regulada por algún órgano.
Y es que recientemente Rusia y sus principales instituciones financieras han sufrido los embates de la exclusión del sistema interbancario SWIFT, ello aunado a los recientes desplomes del de la divisa rusa que mantiene nerviosos a los ciudadanos rusos y los bloqueos de activos que impusieron la Unión Europea y Estados Unidos.
Ante este panorama, los rusos han volteado a ver a las criptomonedas, siguiendo el ejemplo de otras naciones como Corea del Norte e Irán, pero no sólo recurren al Bitcoin, sino también al Tether. No obstante, otras como Coinbase, Binance y FTX han optado por dar la espalda al país y, en su lugar, colaboran con Estados Unidos.
El uso de las criptomonedas tampoco se ha limitado a Rusia, pues el gobierno ucraniano también ha recibido hasta 17,1 millones de dólares en estas divisas digitales, según un análisis de Elliptic.
Sin embargo, así como las criptomonedas han tenido alzas, la grande especulación que se respira en estos momento en los mercados han hecho que también tenga desplomes significativos como el -8.5% de Bitcoin,el -12% de Ethereum, así como otras bajas de XRP, Cardano y Solana, lo que a su vez confirma su estatus de riesgo.

?This work shows how microbiomes have evolved in a group of organisms over 700 million years old,? said Sabrina Pankey, a postdoctoral researcher and lead author of the study. ?Sponges are increasing in abundance on reefs in response to climate change and they play an enormous role in water quality and nutrient fixation.?
In the study, recently published in the journal Nature Ecology & Evolution, the significance of the work transcends sponges, providing a new approach to understanding the past based on genomics. The researchers characterized almost 100 sponge species from across the Caribbean using a machine-learning method to model the identity and abundance of every member of the sponges? unique microbiomes, the community of microbes and bacteria that live within them in symbiosis. They found two distinct microbiome compositions that led to different strategies sponges used for feeding (sponges capture nutrients by pumping water through their bodies) and protecting themselves against predators ? even among species that grew side by side on a reef.
?If we can reconstruct the evolutionary history of complex microbial communities like this, we can say a lot about the Earth?s past,? said David Plachetzki, associate professor of molecular, cellular and biomedical sciences and study co-author. ?Research like this could reveal aspects of the chemical composition of the Earth?s oceans going back to before modern coral reefs even existed, or it could provide insights on the tumult that marine ecosystems experienced in the aftermath of the greatest extinction in history that took place about 252 million years ago.?
The types of symbiotic communities the researchers describe in this paper are very complex, yet they can show they evolved independently multiple times. They say that there is something very specific about what these microbial communities are doing. Sponges dozens of times have decided that this diverse arrangement of microbes works for them.
Leveraging this new genomic approach, the researchers found that the origin of one of these distinct microbiomes, which had a high microbial abundance (HMA) of more than a billion microbes per gram of tissue, occurred at a time when the Earth?s oceans underwent a significant change in biogeochemistry coincident with the origins of modern coral reefs.
The project was funded by National Science Foundation Dimensions of Biodiversity and Biological Oceanography Program.

Las criptomonedas más queridas y en la mira del inversor: Shiba Inu, Dogecoin y Cardano, están peleando para sobresalir de sus cifras comunes de esta semana. Shiba y Dogecoin habrían tenido mejoras significativas en el día de martes, y es lo que actualmente esta presenciando Cardano en este análisis del día.
Análisis del día de la criptomoneda Shiba Inu ? Mis shibas siguen siendo de los valores más altos de la semana.
La criptomoneda Shiba Inu tenía para el día 13 de abril a las 8:10 am, un valor de $0.00002699. Y como parte de este análisis de 24 horas, hoy a las 8:04 am un valor total de $0.00002652.
El día de ayer, se realizó un análisis de las estadísticas del día martes, donde los montos alcistas estuvieron en todo el día. Todo lo contrario se ve para la gráfica actual, donde solo en un rango de las 8:40 am ? 12:00 pm se mantendrían en cifras alcistas, lo demás estaría muy por debajo del promedio de apertura. Las cantidades más abrumadoras y afectantes ocurrieron desde el medio día hasta a un aproximado de las 17 horas de la tarde, al que luego se estabilizaría con subidas y bajadas pero manteniendo números similares hasta la hora actual. Estos resultados dan consigo un (- 1,84%) de perdidas desde la primera hora de su apertura.
El monto más bajo sucedió alrededor de las primeras horas de la tarde de ayer, siendo este a las 15:14 pm donde las cifras estarían en los $0.00002576. Por otro lado, su monto más alto se vería reflejado a las 9:34 am, con un valor en $0.00002784.

Análisis del día de la criptomoneda Dogecoin – ¡La criptomoneda Dogecoin no vuelve a subir desde la semana pasada!
Con respecto a la criptomoneda Dogecoin para el día ayer a las 8:14 am, tenía un valor de $0.141. Y para el día de hoy, 14 de abril, a las 8:12 am poseía un valor total de $0.140.
Los resultados vistos el día de hoy, serian uno de los más bajos a comparación de toda la semana, pero no sería el mismo resultado para el del mes.
Desde las primeras horas de ayer, no hubo un alce tan llamativo que se pueda mencionar, porque sus cifras bajaron rotundamente desde el mediodía, hasta un aproximado de las 17 horas de la tarde. Luego subió significativamente para mantenerse por debajo del promedio apertura, recién a las 3:00 am subiría nuevamente para terminar con cantidades alcistas, hasta la hora actual. Dando consigo un (- 0,37%) de cifras perdidas, desde las primeras horas de ayer hasta los montos actuales.
A las 15:20 pm, sus montos estarían en un aproximado de $0.1371 y considerándose el valor más bajo alcanzado durante las 24 horas. Mientras que para el día de hoy, a las primeras horas de la madrugada, siendo las 4:14 am tendríamos la cantidad de $0.1423.

Análisis del día de la criptomoneda Cardano ? Mis inversiones vuelven a tener fruto con Cardano
En el día de ayer, la criptomoneda Cardano a la hora especifica de 8:10 am tenía un monto referencial en $0.9595. Y para hoy a las 8:07 am presenta un valor de $0.9713.
Desde las primeras horas de ayer, la criptomoneda habría empezado con pie izquierdo, teniendo bajas muy notorias desde el inicio del día hasta un rango de las 16:00 pm de la tarde. Fue recién llegando a esta hora que sus cifras subirían en cantidades grandes y se mantuvo así en lo que resta del análisis, es por ello que finaliza con una ganancia de (+ 1,40%) desde la apertura.
Las cantidades finales nos dan una esperanza de que pueda subir más con el transcurso del día, y que nosotros estaríamos describiéndolo para mañana a la misma hora.
Su monto más alto dentro de un radio de 24 horas sería a las 4:14 am, con un total de $0.9835. Mientras que su valor más bajo ocurrió el día de ayer a las 15:05 am, con un total de $0.9374.

Erst letztes Wochenende haben die Entwicklerteams PoS mit einer Shadow Fork auf dem ETH Mainnet getestet. Der Test war erfolgreich und für die Ether Community war das ein weiterer wichtiger Meilenstein.
Sobald das offizielle Datum für den Wechsel von Ether zu Proof-of-Stake (The Merge) bekannt ist, ist es wahrscheinlich, dass in der nächsten Zeit alle Augen auf ETH gerichtet sind. Fundamental verändert sich dadurch nämlich einiges. Im Folgenden schauen wir uns deshalb an, warum davon auszugehen ist, dass ?The Merge? bullish für Ether ist.

L. Mahadevan, the Lola England de Valpine Professor of Applied Mathematics, of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, and of Physics, learned the mechanics of combing years ago while brushing his young daughter?s hair.
?I recall that detangling spray seemed to work sometimes, but I still had to be careful to comb gently, by starting from the free ends,? said Mahadevan. ?But I was soon fired from the job as I was not very patient.?
While Mahadevan lost his role as hairdresser, he was still a scientist and the topology, geometry and mechanics of detangling posed interesting mathematical questions that are relevant to a range of applications including textile manufacturing and chemical processes such as polymer processing.
In a new paper, published in the journal Soft Matter, Mahadevan and co-authors Thomas Plumb Reyes and Nicholas Charles, explore the mathematics of combing and explain why the brushing technique used by so many is the most effective method to detangle a bundle of fibers.
To simplify the problem, the researchers simulated two helically entwined filaments, rather than a whole head of hair.
?Using this minimal model, we study the detangling of the double helix via a single stiff tine that moves along it, leaving two untangled filaments in its wake,? said Plumb-Reyes, a graduate student at SEAS. ?We measured the forces and deformations associated with combing and then simulated it numerically.?
?Short strokes that start at the free end and move towards the clamped end remove tangles by creating a flow of a mathematical quantity called the ?link density? that characterizes the amount that hair strands that are braided with each other, consistent with simulations of the process? said Nicholas Charles, a graduate student at SEAS.
The researchers also identified the optimal minimum length for each stroke ? any smaller and it would take forever to comb out all the tangles and any longer and it would be too painful.
The mathematical principles of brushing developed by Plumb-Reyes, Charles and Mahadevan were recently used by Professor Daniela Rus and her team at MIT to design algorithms for brushing hair by a robot.
Next, the team aims to study the mechanics of brushing curlier hair and how it responds to humidity and temperature, which may lead to a mathematical understanding of a fact every person with curly hair knows: never brush dry hair.

L. Mahadevan, the Lola England de Valpine Professor of Applied Mathematics, of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, and of Physics, learned the mechanics of combing years ago while brushing his young daughter?s hair.
?I recall that detangling spray seemed to work sometimes, but I still had to be careful to comb gently, by starting from the free ends,? said Mahadevan. ?But I was soon fired from the job as I was not very patient.?
While Mahadevan lost his role as hairdresser, he was still a scientist and the topology, geometry and mechanics of detangling posed interesting mathematical questions that are relevant to a range of applications including textile manufacturing and chemical processes such as polymer processing.
In a new paper, published in the journal Soft Matter, Mahadevan and co-authors Thomas Plumb Reyes and Nicholas Charles, explore the mathematics of combing and explain why the brushing technique used by so many is the most effective method to detangle a bundle of fibers.
To simplify the problem, the researchers simulated two helically entwined filaments, rather than a whole head of hair.
?Using this minimal model, we study the detangling of the double helix via a single stiff tine that moves along it, leaving two untangled filaments in its wake,? said Plumb-Reyes, a graduate student at SEAS. ?We measured the forces and deformations associated with combing and then simulated it numerically.?
?Short strokes that start at the free end and move towards the clamped end remove tangles by creating a flow of a mathematical quantity called the ?link density? that characterizes the amount that hair strands that are braided with each other, consistent with simulations of the process? said Nicholas Charles, a graduate student at SEAS.
The researchers also identified the optimal minimum length for each stroke ? any smaller and it would take forever to comb out all the tangles and any longer and it would be too painful.
The mathematical principles of brushing developed by Plumb-Reyes, Charles and Mahadevan were recently used by Professor Daniela Rus and her team at MIT to design algorithms for brushing hair by a robot.
Next, the team aims to study the mechanics of brushing curlier hair and how it responds to humidity and temperature, which may lead to a mathematical understanding of a fact every person with curly hair knows: never brush dry hair.

Cardiovascular disease and depression are thought to be closely related due to similar risk factors, including inflammation and oxidative stress. Although it has been shown that depression could be a risk factor for developing cardiovascular disease, studies analyzing the potential impact of cardiovascular health on developing depression are scarce.
In the new study, the researchers used data from an ongoing 6-year multi-center randomized trial in Spain which analyzes the effect of a Mediterranean Diet on men aged 55-75 and women aged 60-75 with overweight or obesity. 6,545 individuals with no cardiovascular or endocrine disease at baseline were included in the current analysis. A cardiovascular risk score according to the Framingham-based REGICOR function was calculated for each person, dividing participants into low (LR), medium (MR), or high/very high (HR) cardiovascular risk groups. Depressive status was gauged using a questionnaire at baseline and after 2 years of follow-up.
At baseline, women in the HR group showed higher odds of depressive status than LR women (OR 1.78 95% CI 1.26-2.50). In addition, among all participants with baseline total cholesterol below 160 mg/mL, MR and HR individuals showed higher odds of depression than LR (MR: OR 1.77 95% CI 1.13-2.77; HR: OR 2.83 95% CI 1.25-6.42). On the contrary, among participants with total cholesterol of 280 mg/mL or higher, MR and HR individuals had a lower risk of depression than LR (MR: OR 0.26 95% CI 0.07-0.98; HR: OR 0.23 95% CI 0.05-0.95). After two years, during which time all individuals were instructed to follow a Mediterranean Diet as part of the trial, participants, on average, decreased their depressive status score, with the greatest decreases seen for MR and HR participants with high baseline cholesterol levels.
The authors conclude that high and very high cardiovascular risk are associated with depressive symptoms, especially in women, and that the role of other factors, such as adherence to the Mediterranean Diet, deserves further research.

Participants underwent baseline and follow-up neuropsychological assessments of facial affect recognition, as well as assessments of quality of life and emotional functioning. At follow up, facial affect recognition skills significantly improved in the MS group compared with the placebo group.
The efficacy of EMOPRINT has important implications for individuals with MS, as well as for other populations that experience deficits of facial recognition, including autism, traumatic brain injury, and schizophrenia. Deficits in facial recognition, which are known to hinder social functioning, are often associated with mood disorders and reduced quality of life, according to lead author Dr. Genova, the Foundation?s associate director of the Center for Autism Research and an expert in the study of social cognition.
?Improving facial recognition may improve interpersonal relationships and lead to better outcomes at home and in the workplace,? she added. ?The success of EMOPRINT in this MS study is an important first step toward the larger-scale, longer-term studies of social cognition we need to study these potential effects.?
