It is not supposed to be a Prime Minister’s Conference, but it meets in the same round: On Tuesday at 1 p.m. after the Federal Constitutional Court’s decision on the federal emergency brake, the federal and state governments will come together to talk about the Corona crisis.

Schancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and future Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) will be talking to the heads of state tomorrow, Tuesday at 1 p.m. even before the next Prime Minister’s Conference. WELT learned this from several independent sources.

Tomorrow’s decision by the Federal Constitutional Court on the so-called federal emergency brake is to be discussed in the telephone vote. The new crisis team and the current corona situation should also be an issue. In it, Germany’s top political judges want to give important information on the constitutional limits of pandemic policy.

The discussion topics of the round should also be further possible restrictions on public life. Among other things, it should be about the 2G-plus rule for events inside and outside of closed rooms, about a general closure of clubs and discos and capacity limits for the games of the Bundesliga.

The new crisis team, which the future traffic light coalition intends to install in the Chancellery, will also be presented to the group. He is to steer the nationwide fight against pandemics under the leadership of the Bundeswehr General Carsten Breuer.

MPK chairman Wüst called for a federal-state vote

On Monday, the North Rhine-Westphalian Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) called for the federal-state conference to be brought forward quickly. “The situation requires swift, determined and above all cohesive action,” said the current chairman of the Conference of Ministers of Presidents (MPK) of the “Rheinische Post”. A joint vote is needed “in the next few days, preferably tomorrow”.

Science provides clear recommendations. The spread of the new omicron variant of the corona virus also shows that there is no more time to be lost. “The virus knows no government break, which is why, in addition to effective measures in the federal states, a nationwide coordinated approach to key issues is urgently needed,” Wüst told the newspaper.

This includes uniform standards for “significant” contact reductions, the preparation of a general vaccination requirement and the establishment of a new crisis team at the federal government. Wüst warned that one could not wait until a new chancellor was elected. The next conference of heads of government is currently planned for December 9th.

Groundbreaking decision on Tuesday

The Federal Constitutional Court will publish a decision on the main issue of the Corona federal emergency brake for the first time on Tuesday. The Karlsruhe judges want to clarify whether and to what extent the legislature may oblige the population to restrict the contact and exit (AZ: 1 BvR 781/21 and others) and cause schools to be closed in order to contain the corona pandemic. (AZ: 1 BvR 971/21 and 1 BvR 1069/21).

“The Federal Constitutional Court is one of the biggest disappointments in this pandemic”

“We not only have a health crisis, but also a crisis of our basic rights,” says Thorsten Jungholt. The political WELT correspondent wonders why the Federal Constitutional Court has remained silent for so long, even though there are thousands of constitutional complaints.

Source: WORLD / Thorsten Jungholt

The statutory federal emergency brake, the so-called ?Fourth Civil Protection Act?, which came into force on April 23, 2021 and expired at the end of June 2021, was intended to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. For example, nocturnal exit restrictions, contact restrictions in private households or school lessons from home were set with an incidence of over 165 on three consecutive days.

Many citizens saw this as an inadmissible interference with their fundamental rights. By the end of July, 8,572 people had turned to the Federal Constitutional Court in 281 constitutional complaints and other urgent motions.

On May 31, 2021, the constitutional judges rejected numerous applications to stop the federal emergency brake in an urgent decision (AZ: 1 BvR 794/21). Whether the law is unconstitutional can only be clarified in the main proceedings. The restrictions served to protect the health of the population and thus a ?legitimate purpose?. It is not obvious that the exit restrictions against the corona pandemic are “obviously not suitable, not necessary or inadequate”. The court has not yet issued an urgent decision on school closings.

The new Netflix phenomenon

Squid Game is therefore a nine-episode South Korean series directed by Hwang Dong-hyeok. It airs September 17, 2021 on Netflix.

Very quickly, she then meets a huge success from users of the platform. Once started, it’s hard to get off the hook.

And for good reason ! It reinvents an already very popular genre: Battle Royale. This name comes from Japanese movie directed by Kinji Fukasaku and released in the year 2000.

It is an adaptation of the roman éponyme de Koshun Takami, appeared a year earlier. A manga resuming the story has also emerged.

Squid Game with a scene a group of 456 individuals who agree to participate in a game. They are all more indebted than the others and thus hope to leave with full pockets.

They don’t know the rules, but let themselves be seduced by the huge sum of money promised to the winner. Enough to get off on the right foot!

Every day for a week, they take part in a test evoking a game from our childhood. We find the “one, two, three, sun”, marbles, or even tug of war.

The series then established itself as most watched in over 100 countries ! A success that Hwang Dong-hyeok himself did not expect.

Agnes Deschl guided many holidaymakers through Neustadt ad Donau for over 15 years. Now she is retiring.

Neustadt a.d. Do.For over 15 years, Agnes Deschl was a well-known face as a city guide in Neustadt an der Donau. Now they said goodbye to Mayor Thomas Memmel and Tourism Manager Astrid Rundler in their ?retirement?. Mayor Thomas Memmel praised Ms. Deschl’s long-term commitment and thanked her from the bottom of his heart for having ?done the best publicity for our hometown over the past many years with her tireless efforts?. “I really enjoyed bringing our Wittelsbach town and its exciting history closer to the guests,” says Deschl. “The visit to the meeting room of the town hall was always a special highlight for the guests.”

The tours were mainly used by holiday guests from Bad Gögging, according to a press release from Tourist Information Bad Gögging to the MZ. Unfortunately, few people from Neustadt have joined the tours, Deschl regrets. But once they were there on a tour, the enthusiasm was great. “There were always nice guests and I was able to learn a lot from the many special encounters,” enthuses Deschl. For example, the tour of a group of American musicians was unforgettable for them. But she also remembers the participants of a Dutch caravan club very well. The years of inner city renovation were a special situation, which did not always make the guided tours in Neustadt easy. At her own request, Ms. Deschl stopped working as a city guide. Her schedule is now full of all her other hobbies. And she still works in the library in the Kurhaus for the city of Neustadt an der Donau. Agnes Englerth, who not only does the city tours in Neustadt, but who has long been known as a tour guide in Bad Gögging, Abensberg and also in the Roman fort Einig, has already taken over.

The range of guided tours has been greatly expanded by the Bad Gögging Tourist Information Office in recent years. In addition to the city tour in Neustadt, there are guided hikes and bike tours, tours in the Roman Museum for spa and bathing in the St. Andreas Church, tours in the Abusina castle, herb hikes, walks to train the eyes and much more. Special highlights in the tour program are the adventure tours with a drama in Bad Gögging with sulfur steam and spa concert and in the Abusina castle with Roman, radish and riot, as well as the accompanied pilgrims on the pilgrimage route Via Nova. The last Neustadt tour this year will take place on December 2nd at 3:30 p.m. Dates or information on the individual tours can be obtained from the Bad Gögging Tourist Information on telephone number (0 94 45) 9 57 50 or www.bad-goegging.de. The tours can also be booked separately for families, groups and clubs.

The electrification of the automotive sector always generates more new signatures, as if it were preferable to start from a blank page to change era. Like Polestar and Lynk & Co, created by Volvo, and Ioniq or BZ, inducted respectively by Hyundai and Toyota, the Volkswagen group has been enriched by Cupra. A brand that will focus exclusively on the sale of electric vehicles and would see itself on the edge of the premium market by attracting a wider clientele.

Originally, this label designated the sports versions of Seat, a Spanish manufacturer with a popular vocation within the German group. Change of direction: having become a brand in its own right in 2018, Cupra is feeling its wings growing and is now unashamedly positioned a notch above Volkswagen. Its first all-electric model, the Born, a name inspired by a trendy district of Barcelona, ??has been on sale since November 18 from 40,250 euros (bonus of 6,000 euros not deducted). In the same configuration – 204 horsepower and a 58 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery for a range of 424 km) – the Volkswagen ID.3, from which it is closely derived, is offered from 38,380 euros.

In January 2022, a less efficient version (150 horsepower, a 45 kWh battery for a range of 349 km) will be launched around 36,000 euros, a price still higher than its counterpart in the Volkswagen range. The Born is also preparing to introduce, from April 2022, a more powerful engine (230 hp) which will have no equivalent in the ID.3 range. Benefiting from a sportier and more polished presentation than its alter ego – the two vehicles are manufactured in the German factory in Zwickau – the Born is also better equipped. A preferential treatment that does not go without crying some teeth in the rest of the VW galaxy, already strong with eight car companies.

“The group has many traditional brands, with a strong heritage, and it will need Cupra in the face of emerging competitors, particularly Chinese, which will enter the electric car market”, pleads Wayne Griffiths, the president of Seat-Cupra. Decided to “Propose models that are more emotional than strictly rational”, the Spanish manufacturer intends to be halfway “Between high-volume generalists and premium manufacturers”. A position left vacant in the VW group, which, moreover, has been seeking for a long time to have a chic and Latin brand. In recent years, this has prompted him to try, but without success, to buy Alfa Romeo (Stellantis group), which must also switch to all-electric in the coming years.

Relatively encouraging start to sales

By setting up a range from scratch, the managers of Cupra believe that it will be easier for them to capture a young clientele with high purchasing power, until then little inclined to opt for a Volkswagen, a Skoda or an Audi. Customers open to a different relationship to the automobile offered by the monthly rental formulas introduced by the manufacturer in Germany. The relatively encouraging start in Cupra sales (116,000 units in nearly three years), mainly attributable to the Formentor crossover available in a plug-in hybrid version, encourages them to dig into this furrow.

The wish of the brand is to reach the bar of 1% penetration in Europe, or roughly the sales of Mini

The two other products planned by 2025 confirm the desire to install Cupra as a rather posh brand. The future Tavascan SUV would see itself as a rival to Tesla’s Model Y, while it has already been noted that the small urban vehicle announced by the UrbanRebel concept car will be charged more than the corresponding Volkswagen model.

So this time is the right one. After an incredible election-resignation in the space of seven hours last week, Swedish Social Democrat leader Magdalena Andersson was re-elected prime minister on Monday November 29 by Parliament and will be able to officially become the first woman to hold this post in the country.

Until now Minister of Finance, Magdalena Andersson was elected by the deputies with 173 votes against, 101 votes for and 75 abstentions. In Sweden, a government is approved as long as an absolute majority of 175 deputies does not vote its censure. This 54-year-old economist succeeds the resigning Prime Minister Stefan Löfven.

Barring an improbable new surprise, the election closes the soap opera of the transition of social democratic power caused by the departure of the latter, who had passed the hand at the beginning of the month after seven years in power and less than a year of legislative elections. September 2022. The presentation of his government to King Carl XVI Gustaf, which officially marks his assumption of office, is expected on Tuesday.

During a staggering day of parliamentarism last Wednesday, Magdalena Andersson was first elected prime minister, then outvoted on her budget by the right-wing opposition and finally forced to resign after the surprise departure of environmentalists from the government.

As a result of this departure from the Green Party, the former high-level swimmer will lead an entirely social-democratic government. Sweden has never had a female prime minister since the post was created in 1876, unlike all the other Nordic countries.

Political domino game

Mme Andersson was the victim of a painful game of political dominoes. If it had secured in extremis the support necessary to come to power, thanks to an agreement with the Left Party to increase small pensions, the Center Party, unhappy with the concessions made to the left wing, had withdrawn its support for the budget, without blocking its rise to power.

Consequence: the same Parliament which elected her in the morning put her budget in a minority in the afternoon and adopted that of the right-wing opposition, prepared for the first time with the extreme right of the Democrats of Sweden (SD). In the process, his environmental ally, the only other party in the minority government coalition, slammed the door, deeming it unacceptable to govern with a budget bearing the seal of the far right. This decision then forced Mme Andersson to return his barely acquired apron.

An unprecedented scenario

?There is a constitutional practice whereby a coalition government resigns when a party leaves it. I do not want to lead a government whose legitimacy is questioned ?, she explained at a press conference. Although used to the complexities of its parliamentarism, the Nordic country had never experienced such a scenario.

The succession to the head of Sweden takes place less than a year from the legislative elections of September 2022, which promise to be tight. Mme Andersson will have to convince voters by then. With some 25% in the polls, the Social Democratic Party retains its rank as the leading political party in Sweden, but is close to its historic lows. He will have to counter his great rival, the conservative Moderates party, in a new configuration. The latter has moved closer to the far right Swedish Democrats and is now ready to govern with his support in Parliament.

The ?Squid Game? actor Wi Ha-joon shares his hopes for the continuation of the Korean hit series in an interview with ?The Star?.

In the first season of “Squid Game” Wi Ha-joon portrays the police officer Hwang Jun-ho. While searching for his brother, the latter becomes part of the action more or less by chance. However, Jun-ho cannot intervene directly in what is happening. Because in order to find out what the “Squid Game” is all about, he must first investigate undercover.

“Because my character tells the story from an observer’s point of view, the representation of his emotions was very limited,” says Ha-joon. Still, the actor has a clear idea of ??the policeman’s fate: ?If I imagine Hwang Jun-ho in season two, I would want him to find his brother and ask him what the hell [mit ihm] has happened”.

At another point in the interview, Ha-joon speaks of his sudden success after the appearance of ?Squid Game?: ?I still can’t believe that something like this could happen to me. I was incredibly lucky to be able to work on a great series ?.

Ha-joon had almost given up the dream of an acting career. Had ?Squid Game? been released a little later, Ha-joon might not have played at all, because: ?There was a time when I only got rejected after auditions and my self-confidence got so low that I asked myself: Should I stop acting? ?. But thanks to constant encouragement from the people around him, Ha-joon became calmer in this regard and finally added: “Now I believe in myself”.
