Actress Jessica Rothe relishes working with people who are “better” than her.
Speaking to 9Honey Celebrity about her latest film All My Life, she says, “I want to work on material that scares me and terrifies me and exhilarates me and also work with people who are better than me and who challenge me.”
“This movie was such a huge challenge and something I’d never done before,” she says. “Not only was I getting to be part of this story that was inspired by a real love story but I was also kind of having to go into these incredibly sad, vulnerable places as well as experiencing the height of joy. Walking that tightrope and going from one extreme to the other was such an incredible challenge.”

Her latest film All My Life is in Australian cinemas now. It follows the heartbreaking true story of Canadian couple Jennifer Carter and Solomon Chau as they adapt to the news of Chau’s terminal cancer diagnosis.
In a race against time, the couple decide to continue planning their wedding, focusing instead on the strength of their love. Friends and family launched an online fundraiser, which sparked donations all over the world, and they were able to have their dream wedding in just two weeks after his life-shattering news.

Despite being gut-wrenching and tear-inducing, there’s still a beautiful message of hope and joy in this film.
“Every single day is a gift and it’s meaningful and valuable. Even though we’re so often focused on the bigger moments in life, it’s really those small intimate ones with your dearest friends and family that you’ll treasure forever”, Rothe says. “I really hope that this film can not only be a celebration for life but also, provide some comfort and a cathartic outlet for people who have lost loved ones in the past year and people who are feeling disconnected and alone.
“Because the truth is we’re not alone. We’re part of this big wonderful conglomerate of energy.”

And as Rothe recounts one part of the script where she couldn’t stop sobbing she points out that “in some ways, there was just as much joy. It was just a different kind.”
“Every day on set, someone cried,” she says. “We always want to be cognisant of the fact that we were honouring Sol and we were honouring Jenn and we were honouring their relationship. We were also honouring the millions of people who have cancer and who have passed away from cancer and people who are survivors and people who have been touched by it because of their loved ones in their life.”

Playing the real Jennifer Carter was also a responsibility she didn’t take lightly.
“I was very lucky that the real Jenn and I got to speak extensively before filming. She was incredibly generous not only in sharing personal stories and videos of her and Sol, but also giving us small details that helped us fill the world,” she says. “Jenn specifically, she has such love and passion for life. She’s funny and bold and energetic and fearless. Someone who loves deeply and isn’t afraid of anything. It’s such a pleasure and joy any time anyone gets to play a role like that.”
And with such a role that relies on the chemistry between two partners, working with Shum Jnr. was a dream for Rothe.
“It’s such a rare treat when you have the opportunity to work with someone who is not only incredibly talented and passionate about what they do and a hard worker, but also is genuinely a good human,” she says.

“Harry is all of those things,” adds Rothe. “He came to set every single day with a million ideas and a huge smile on his face. I felt very, very safe with him and I think we were able to both challenge ourselves and go to scary places because of that trust and love.”
With that trust and love, every single day was a joy for Rothe. There was however, one scene that was her favourite when filming with Shum Jnr.
“I really loved filming the fountain scene,” she says. “There are scenes that every once in a while feel like OMG I am in an epic movie version of my life and that was one of them. It was late at night and it was freezing and Harry and I just took that leap of faith and jumped into the fountain and it was so incredibly magical.”

“However, my dress did end up taking on 40 tonnes of water and it was so incredibly heavy,” she adds. “Before filming the scene, I had all of these plans. I was going to jump in and jump in the air and spin and run around but I couldn’t do any of it because the dress was so heavy from the water. But it made the situation completely funny and light and Harry and I couldn’t stop laughing.”
“And that’s the beautiful thing about movies and about creating art is that every once in a while, something happens and takes you by surprise. The movie has so many incredibly intimate yet really funny, true heartfelt moments like that.”

Denis Villeneuve prepares for the second round of ?Dune?. The new attempt at adapting Frank Herbert?s novels was quite a bit better than David Lynch?s version. It grossed $400 million at the worldwide box office, was received with rave reviews, and is up for 10 Oscars, including Best Picture. This summer the filming of the second part will beginwhich will adapt what remains of the first book in the saga, again with Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya in the leading roles.
In the last few hours, a very juicy rumor has been sparked on social networks regarding the casting of the sequel. ?Dune: Part 2? should introduce the character of Princess Irulan, daughter of the Padisha Emperor Shaddam IV, the man behind the plan to bring down House Atreides. In the books, Irulan is the third vertex of a triangle formed by Paul and Chani, Chalamet and Zendaya?s characters. We are talking about an important character for the plot, so the choice of the actress who plays her is one of the most pressing unknowns for the shooting. In the David Lynch film she was played by Virginia Madsen.
The fans have been very smart and they have realized that in the last days Tanya Lapointe, executive producer of the film, has started following several actresses on Instagram who would be a great fit for the role: Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Sophie Turner, Julia Garner, Sydney Sweeney and Hunter Schafer.. Obviously this doesn?t mean anything (she also follows Hailee Steinfeld or Elle Fanning, for example) and we have to take it as an absolute rumour, but all six are very powerful names today and it would be a bomb if they were chosen to act alongside Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya. We will have to be attentive to what happens with the casting. Who would you choose?
What are your plans with the second part?
As we said, the idea is that the filming of the second part begins at the end of summer. ?I would say that most of it is already designed. What helps us is that it is the first time that I revisit a universe. I work with the same team, everyone knows what to do, we know what it will look like. The film will be a greater challenge , but we know what we?re getting into. And the script is written. So I?m confident. Honestly, the only thing that worries me is the pandemic ? Villeneuve recently told Empire. He has also explained that he wanted the first part to focus on Paul Atreides and the Bene Gesserit, as well as laying a solid foundation for world building. The second part ?will have a lot more Harkonnen stuff?, the house Dave Bautista and Stellan Skarsgĺrd?s characters belonged to in the first. What future plans are there with ?Dune?? At the moment the filmmaker does not want to come up: ?When I shoot a movie, I do it like all the others, as if it were the last. I?m going to do the same with ?Dune: Part 2??.
The sequel to ?Dune? plans to hit theaters in October 2023. The first part is already available on HBO Max.

Denis Villeneuve prepares for the second round of ?Dune?. The new attempt at adapting Frank Herbert?s novels was quite a bit better than David Lynch?s version. It grossed $400 million at the worldwide box office, was received with rave reviews, and is up for 10 Oscars, including Best Picture. This summer the filming of the second part will beginwhich will adapt what remains of the first book in the saga, again with Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya in the leading roles.
In the last few hours, a very juicy rumor has been sparked on social networks regarding the casting of the sequel. ?Dune: Part 2? should introduce the character of Princess Irulan, daughter of the Padisha Emperor Shaddam IV, the man behind the plan to bring down House Atreides. In the books, Irulan is the third vertex of a triangle formed by Paul and Chani, Chalamet and Zendaya?s characters. We are talking about an important character for the plot, so the choice of the actress who plays her is one of the most pressing unknowns for the shooting. In the David Lynch film she was played by Virginia Madsen.
The fans have been very smart and they have realized that in the last days Tanya Lapointe, executive producer of the film, has started following several actresses on Instagram who would be a great fit for the role: Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Sophie Turner, Julia Garner, Sydney Sweeney and Hunter Schafer.. Obviously this doesn?t mean anything (she also follows Hailee Steinfeld or Elle Fanning, for example) and we have to take it as an absolute rumour, but all six are very powerful names today and it would be a bomb if they were chosen to act alongside Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya. We will have to be attentive to what happens with the casting. Who would you choose?
What are your plans with the second part?
As we said, the idea is that the filming of the second part begins at the end of summer. ?I would say that most of it is already designed. What helps us is that it is the first time that I revisit a universe. I work with the same team, everyone knows what to do, we know what it will look like. The film will be a greater challenge , but we know what we?re getting into. And the script is written. So I?m confident. Honestly, the only thing that worries me is the pandemic ? Villeneuve recently told Empire. He has also explained that he wanted the first part to focus on Paul Atreides and the Bene Gesserit, as well as laying a solid foundation for world building. The second part ?will have a lot more Harkonnen stuff?, the house Dave Bautista and Stellan Skarsgĺrd?s characters belonged to in the first. What future plans are there with ?Dune?? At the moment the filmmaker does not want to come up: ?When I shoot a movie, I do it like all the others, as if it were the last. I?m going to do the same with ?Dune: Part 2??.
The sequel to ?Dune? plans to hit theaters in October 2023. The first part is already available on HBO Max.

Violent Night takes place on Christmas Eve, at the estate of a wealthy family who have very tough and competitive dynamics. When a group of mercenaries attack the mansion, a disillusioned Santa (Harbour) has to step in and try to save Christmas in an unconventionally brutal way.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Leguizamo will play the leader of the violent gang that breaks into the estate ? marking a bit of a departure from his role as misunderstood Bruno in the Oscar-nominated Disney animated hit, Encanto.
National Lampoon’s Vacation and Entourage star D’Angelo will play the family matriarch, who leads their corporation and plays a cruel game of making her kids fight each other for her love.
Hassell, who has starred in The Boys and Cowboy Bebop, is taking on the role of one of the adult children of D’Angelo’s character, while The Tomorrow War star Louder will play his estranged wife, who is forced to spend Christmas with the family for the sake of her daughter.

He soon delivered on that promise with back-to-back Oscar-worthy roles. But for a long time, his lack of Oscar nods seemed to bother Carrey.

Bob Odenkirk stepped out and took his dog for a walk through the hills of Los Angeles on Friday, February 18.
The 59-year-old actor appeared to be in good spirits while spending time with his pet as well as his friend and frequent collaborator David Cross.
The Better Call Saul star’s outing comes almost seven months after he suffered a heart attack while working on an upcoming episode of the wildly popular crime drama series.
Puppy love: Bob Odenkirk stepped out and took his dog for a walk through the hills of Los Angeles on Friday
Odenkirk kept it casual in a long-sleeve polo shirt, jeans and a trucker hat during his time in the pleasant California sun.
The actor detailed his harrowing health scare, which took place this past July, in a piece that was published by The New York Times earlier this month.
During the sit-down, the Nobody star pointed out that he had become exhausted from a full day’s work and was grateful that he was not alone when the heart attack came on.
‘We were shooting a scene, we’d been shooting all day, and luckily I didn’t go back to my trailer,’ he said.

Bob Odenkirk stepped out and took his dog for a walk through the hills of Los Angeles on Friday, February 18.
The 59-year-old actor appeared to be in good spirits while spending time with his pet as well as his friend and frequent collaborator David Cross.
The Better Call Saul star’s outing comes almost seven months after he suffered a heart attack while working on an upcoming episode of the wildly popular crime drama series.

The actor detailed his harrowing health scare, which took place this past July, in a piece that was published by The New York Times earlier this month.
During the sit-down, the Nobody star pointed out that he had become exhausted from a full day’s work and was grateful that he was not alone when the heart attack came on.
‘We were shooting a scene, we’d been shooting all day, and luckily I didn’t go back to my trailer,’ he said.
